Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Club

Our Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Club recently embarked on an incredible expedition to Trident Island in Akwamufie, Ghana, filled with adventure and personal growth—all without devices!

The journey began with breathtaking hikes through stunning landscapes, where students strengthened their endurance and teamwork. Along the way, they learned essential water safety skills while kayaking, including techniques for kayak overturn rescues.

The thrill continued as students conquered heights by abseiling down a high cliff, pushing their limits and embracing the spirit of risk-taking. They built their own tents, cooked meals, and gathered around the campfire, fostering self-management and problem-solving skills.

In addition, participants gained vital life-saving skills through first aid training, preparing them for any situation. This expedition aimed for the Bronze Award, focusing on skill development, leadership, and team bonding.

A huge thank you to Brave Heart Expeditions for guiding us through these unforgettable experiences!

We are excited to announce the launch of the Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Club at Al-Rayan International School!

About the Duke of Edinburgh Award:
The Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Award is a program designed to help young people learn new skills, participate in outdoor adventures, and volunteer in their communities. Participants can work towards three levels: Bronze, Silver, and Gold. They will choose activities in areas such as skills development, physical exercise, and expeditions (like camping or hiking). The goal is to challenge themselves, grow, and achieve something special by the end of the program! The age range for participation is 14 to 24 years.

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation is a global charity dedicated to helping young people discover their purpose, place, and passion in the world.

Expedition Section:
As part of the DofE Award, participants will embark on outdoor adventures, hiking at least 16 km each day without using technology (non-compliance will result in disqualification). Groups must consist of 4 to 7 members.

Important Information:
For new members we will begin with the Bronze Award level, for returning members we will go for the silver.
Participation in the Duke Club will help your child meet the IB CAS requirements.
Skills, volunteer, and physical activities will take place on campus and will be assessed there.
We are collaborating with Brave Heart Expeditions for our adventures.
