On behalf of the selection committee of the Ghana Mathematical Olympiad and MISE Research Program, I am happy to announce final winners of the 2017 MISE Program. In the Math Olympiad category, the final winners are;
- Master Denzel Segbefia – Ghana Christian High School
- Master Ali Muhammad – Al Rayan International School
- Master Aryush Agrawal – Lincoln Community School
- And a tie in fourth-place between Ms. Carolyn Asante-Dartey – Wesley Girls High School and Master Roni Edwin – Ghana Christian High School.
This year’s Olympiad winners include students with some noteworthy accomplishments. Master Roni Edwin has become the youngest winner of the Ghana Math Olympiad at age 13. He also tied first place on the Geometry Exam with a perfect score. Ms Carolyn Asante-Dartey and Master Ali Muhammad tied in first place with perfect scores in the Algebra exam. In addition to the winners, the committee is happy to recognize the exceptional performance of Omar Farouk for his excellent solution to the Combinatorics problems. Brian Basham of Massachusetts Institute of Technology/ Google and Prof Mark Saul former Director of the USA Math Olympiad Program were this year’s Olympiad selectors. In the Research category, four (4) outstanding students were adjudged top winners. The winners werechosen for their excellence in computational thinking and problem solving as judged by the panel of experts from Facebook and Oxford University.
