Al-Rayan International School proudly celebrates the achievements of Devina Gokaldas (IBDP-2) and Bhavyaa Thakur (IBDP-2), who represented ARIS at the International Economics Olympiad (IEO) 2025 held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 20–29 July. The event brought together talented students from 50 countries, creating a global platform for economic thinking, collaboration, and innovation.

Our ARIS delegation performed exceptionally well across multiple components of the competition. Their business case presentation highlighted strong creativity, analytical thinking, and teamwork. They also demonstrated impressive performance in the financial literacy round, applying knowledge and skills developed through their IB Business Management studies, and showed solid preparation and subject understanding in the core economics examination.

Beyond the academic challenges, students experienced the rich cultural heritage of Baku. They visited notable landmarks such as the National Museum of History, the Carpet Museum, and the natural wonder of Yanar Dağ (Burning Mountain). A particularly inspiring moment was hearing from Nobel Laureate Erik Maskin, whose talk encouraged students to think critically about the future of economics and global policy.

The International Economics Olympiad offered far more than competition. It provided an opportunity for intellectual growth, cross-cultural exchange, and lasting friendships with peers from around the world.
