There's Only One You

In the book There's Only One You, Adri's mama and papa share some of the wisdom they have gained through the years with their eager son. Their words, simple and powerful, are meant to comfort and guide him as he goes about exploring the world.

Year One pupils and their parents read the book together in class and set out to create a beautiful rock-fish art project. The pupils/parents gathered under the common area and began painting their rock-fish.

The parents and their wards enjoyed the time together, painting vibrant colorful fish to add to the class pond. It was the perfect way to remind each and every one of us that, "there's only one you in this great big world."

The project was part of the Unit of Inquiry-WHO WE ARE. The central idea focused on character, ability, interest, and how it informs our learning and growth. The lines of Inquiry were centered around physical, social, and emotional characteristics, including similarities and differences between ourselves and others, personal abilities and interests. The pupils were able to share their thoughts about friendships and their own life experiences.
