CAS Trinity Academy Library Project

Mar 14, 2015

Trinity Academy is a nonprofit charity based local Ghanaian school in Dome, Accra. Over the course of 20 years, a majority of funding for building and educational resources are either fund raised or donated. Most students attending Trinity Academy are improvised and unable to pay termly school fees which are as low as GHC 200. Trinity Academy has an open door policy and does not discriminate based on economic status. Their main goal is to educate all children to the best of their ability. Despite the lack of modern resources and facilities, Admin and Teachers are dedicated and persevering.
On Saturday March 14th 2015 from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m, students from the ARIS Social Welfare Group, supported by friends and the Art Department engaged in a service learning project to help set up the library. The ARIS Social Welfare Club collected close to 400 books for the project.

Students were able to reconstruct, polish and paint shelves, tables and benches and paint the library. Students wrote educational quotes on walls, stamped books with the school logo, categorized books, set up each book for check out and set up individual books in the library for check out. Book collections and ongoing work will continue in an effort to develop the library.
