Teaching and Learning through Inquiry Workshop

Mar 7, 2015

ARIS Primary Teachers enjoyed an exciting and engaging In-School Workshop on Teaching and Learning through Inquiry, by Lucy Elliott.
The workshop focused on 21st Century Teaching and Learning through Inquiry. Inquiry-based Learning describes a process of educational discovery, wherein a student is guided to "see" issues, ask meaningful questions, and then decide how to answer those questions.

The workshop highlighted Kath Murdoch and Kathy Short Inquiry Cycles, as well as the techniques, strategies, and activities that should take place in Inquiry settings. These strategies will enable pupils to become independent learners with a curiosity that goes beyond information and experience, to seek explanations. The workshop concluded by challenging the ARIS Teachers to create engaging Inquiry-based Learning projects in their own classrooms.
