Computing: Fusing Geometry with Art

Jan 3, 2016

Year 5: fusing geometry with art. In integration with PYP: Who We Are.

In integration with their PYP unit “Who We Are”, Year 5 children used Scratch to generate Islamic style art. They first looked at some pieces in different mosques of the world and particularly admired those at Le Grand Mosqué de Paris. They brainstormed ideas on how to use the scripting blocks in Scratch to generate such art pieces fusing geometry with art. Working in pairs, children did a great job decomposing the problem into smaller parts, using sequence and repetition, and testing and debugging their programs.
