"Strategy requires thought, tactics require observation." - Max Euwe

Chess is a great way for children to develop concentration and strategic thinking while having fun at the same time. At ARIS we are lucky to have a well-established and active Chess club. Chess Jr. is for students in Reception through year 3, they meet weekly during the after-school Co-Curricular sessions.

ARIS also offers Chess Sr. for more advanced players, both with coaching from Mentors Chess Academy. The club encourages children to progress gradually from learning basic moves to more advanced skills. Once proficient, many of the children will have the chance to take part in tournaments run both within and outside school.

Chess is used to develop critical thinking, problem solving, decision making, and competitive maturity.
