My American Girl Doll: An Assessment

During the Unit of Inquiry Assessment a Year 4 student creates a video commercial showing how media influences audience behavior. The Central idea was: People can create or manipulate messages to target specific audiences. 

The Key concepts: function, perspective, reflection. Related concepts: media, advertising, propaganda

Lines of inquiry: 

• How images, text and music are used to influence behaviour of target audiences
• Critical evaluation of messages presented in the media
• How people respond to messages

The Year 4 student's took two trips during this unit, one to the Ghana Broadcasting Company and the other to Ghana T.V. (G.T.V). The Guest lecturer, Madame Sharon Peters from Ink It came in to answer the inquirer's questions about how advertising is used to sell products.
