Student Council Elections

Nov 15, 2016

ARIS Secondary Department held its School Representative Council (SRC) election last Friday, November 11, 2016. Although few nominees opted out, four students remained in the race, campaigning strongly for the following positions: President; Bashhar Byrouthy, running against Nouha Hamoui; Vice President: Omar Farouk, running against Papa Mark Hansen.

On this momentous occasion, the aforementioned students delivered persuasive manifestos, promising major and minor transformation in the school. Almost all the nominees assured students that they would spearhead the introduction of more nutritious and delicious menus to the school’s canteen, and make sports a priority by introducing a wide range of sporting activities apart from football.

With this and many more promises, the entire student population burst into rousing cheers of approval, and one could literally feel the excitement and anticipation in the atmosphere. Each nominee responded confidently and convincingly to the questions thrown at them during the question and answer session after the delivery of manifestos, and finally, it was time to vote.

Teachers were present to guide students, and ensure a free and fair election! Ballot boxes were transparent and ballot papers were well designed and labelled. After the process, a group of teachers together with the former SRC President, counted all the votes. Hoping to announce the positions at tomorrow’s Assembly!
