The Very Hungry Caterpillar

The Reception pupils counting leaves from the school playground. The pupils were using the numeracy integration activity, their focus number was 14, they had to make sure they had 14 leaves before placing in the basket.

The pupils demonstrated their communication skills by discussing the other plants they found in different sizes and colours as they prepared to measure them using blocks and rulers.

The children decorating a butterfly after they read the hungry caterpillar who turned into a beautiful butterfly. They were able to identify that plants were a food item for the caterpillar also. The central idea is, plants sustain life and play a role in our life.
