Celebration of Ghana’s 60th independence anniversary in A.R.I.S

On Tuesday 7th March pupils and teachers gathered at the canteen area to commemorate the celebration. Amid traditional drumming and dancing, dignitaries for the occasion, Dr Fatma, Madam Sandeepa Chavan, Madam Dania Sadek, Dr. Funke and Mr. Kofi Ansah were ushered to their seats by a group of dancers and the colour party.

A select group of pupils representing the 10 regions of Ghana gave short renditions of lifestyle episodes of their respective regions while fixing a puzzle map of Ghana in the process.

The highlights of the short ceremony included the singing of the national anthem and the pledge by the entire gathering with musical accompaniment. A solo class act by year six pupil, Alpha caught the attention of many when he reenacted the entire speech given by Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, the first president of the republic who led Ghana to independence on March 6th 1957.

Just like it all began the show ended with in a frenzied mood of drumming and dancing. The floor was opened by the dignitaries to a treat of Agbadza drumming and dancing with others joining in. On display was a spread of assorted Ghanaian dishes for everyone to sample.
