Let’s Celebrate PYP, Let’s Celebrate, Eid Mubarak, Let’s Celebrate!

Sep 5, 2017

On this Friday, the 1st of September, Muslims all over the world will celebrate Eid Ul Adha, also called the Festival of Sacrifice. At ARIS, we respect, honour, value and celebrate all religious and cultural festivals, as a result, our Arabic departments at both our Primary and Secondary campuses organized an assembly to commemorate this Eid Celebration.

The event at the Primary campus started bright and early by 8:00 am- all the students came dressed in their cultural, ethnic and comfortable clothing, and the school boasted a lively, festive energy. The event begun with a short prayer, followed by students sharing their knowledge and experiences on how Eid is celebrated in their countries. We had students from Ghana, India, Pakistan, Lebanon, and even Turkey speak. This was then followed by dances and songs by the Year 3’s and 4’s and was wrapped up with sharing of food and delicacies- it was moving!

At our secondary campus, the assembly took place right after lunch break. The hustle and bustle of the older eagles portrayed their excitement and eagerness of the programme. The student MC’s introduced the assembly and the performances followed. “I really enjoy these cultural assemblies, because I get to experience another culture with no restrictions, it is refreshing!” commented a student from Year 10. Indeed, the event was more than refreshing, and ended with cold drinks, sweet delicacies and snacks.
