Wall Magazine Winners

Sep 5, 2017

Congratulations to the Year 1 Classes for their winning Wall Magazine!

A wall magazine is a periodical run on a notice board, especially in an educational institute where the students and other members of the institution can post their articles, poems, drawings and other such compositions to share with each other.

At ARIS, Wall Magazines are mostly in the form of colorful collages giving a message and showcasing different themes and topics in relation to the programme of inquiry. At ARIS, the Wall Magazine takes place twice a year, and is in the form of a simple competition where the students are given a topic to do in-depth research on, and show case it/ portray it in different, innovative ways. Themes included Friendship, Invention, and Role Models.

These are posted on walls around the school, and allow people to come and read and observe. Every student is asked to focus on one area of the topic and is expected to be as creative and as resourceful as they like. The competition revolves around a rubric that tests if the work was creative, PYP friendly, attractive, catchy, and content based. Three judges are asked to examine the walls and pick the best ones. This time, we asked three parents, of different backgrounds, from the foundation classes, to assess the walls. A winner is picked from each class, and an overall class is picked as the best class display- this semester’s class winners were Year 1s! Congratulations to them- and as a result, they will receive ice-cream treats for their amazing work.

The wall magazine encourages, creative thinking, open-mindedness, reflection, inventiveness, originality and passion. We encourage you to pass by the primary campus and check out our wall magazines when you have the chance.
