There’s Always Something Special Happening Within our Walls!

Aug 31, 2018

Before the present Academic Year 2018/2019 began, during the time of the “Getting Back to Business Week”, the Early Years Facilitators went through the Montessori Approach Workshop. The Montessori Approach integrated in classrooms propels hands-on learning through collaborative and self-directed activities. This aids literacy, numeracy and sensory developments from a very early age.

We went around our Early Years classrooms, and caught some of the activities that the Nursery class was taking part in. Some activities were on sieving sand to separate it from rocks and pebbles, sorting colored balls with tongs, buttoning, sowing, and much more.

When we asked their Homeroom Facilitator, Ms. Christabel the full work-up of the activity and its outcomes, she told us that being able to hold something with tongs, or sieving, or buttoning and sowing takes a certain level of precision. These activities are set up to incorporate the aspect of self-help and independence among the youngest at our school, moreover, when they start writing and holding a pencil, these activities help that!

Stay tuned for more of such activities!
