Emotions, PYP French Integration

May 3, 2018

Reception Students during their French Integration class learnt through the Unit of Inquiry – “How We Express Ourselves”. With the big idea being ‘Stories’, the Line of Inquiry for this activity was “Feelings and Emotions that Stories Evoke.”

As students learn about the concept of Feelings and they learn to connect them to Stories that they learn through and tell, the class was engaged in a fun game! They all drew faces onto their tables with play dough that they would use to make up their ‘happy’ faces or ‘sad’ faces or any other face.

The class being French Integration, they also are able to learn about how they can express themselves through various emotions in French. As the teacher said out various emotions in French, for example “angry” “sad” “happy” “excited” in French, the children would assemble their faces to match the emotions.

They are able to learn, communicate and express themselves in more than one language. These activities are crucial for children to learn to emote, be empathetic, reflect and be open-minded.
