Let’s take a look into what goes on in the PYP Reception Class!

Let’s take a look into what goes on in the Reception Class! They sure do a lot of deep learning and inquiry, as evident in one of their activities last week where they were engaged in sequencing letters and numbers.

During their Math Integration class, the students were extending their understanding of the concept of sequencing. The activity called for the children to be given moveable letters and numbers that they would be asked to put in order. The value of teamwork among the little Eagles shone through, as they worked together and undertook the task at hand, and thus demonstrated their thorough understanding of what they have learnt and retained during their week.

This Central Idea of the current Unit of Inquiry for the Reception class is ‘Stories can engage their audience and communicate meaning’, with the Lines of Inquiry being the ‘Different types of stories’. Through this unit, the class will learn to not only learn to be creative and share stories with each other, but more importantly learn to connect concepts, emotions, and express themselves. Overall, an inquiry that gives children at an early age, the essential skills and qualities, of communication and open-mindedness.
