New Horizons Service Learning

May 16, 2018

Yesterday was Field Trip Day at ARIS Secondary. As part of our ARIS Cares, our School initiative to be of service to the community, our Year 8 Students went to the New Horizons Special School in Accra.

Our Year 8 Students were in charge of organizing a Fun Day for the children at the New Horizons School. They raised money amounting to 2800 Ghana Cedis to buy Face Paint, Paint, Football, Food and they also rented two giant Bouncing Castles. With the money they collected, they also designed their own t-shirts with a name tag at the front saying “Hi! My name is ---“ and the ‘ARIS Cares’ Logo at the back.

The children over at New Horizons have different learning and physical abilities. Thus, our students just wanted to organize this day to have fun together and make them feel that they are no different than them, to make them smile! Some of the students put makeup for the children at New Horizons, while others played different games, football and more!

Altogether, it really lived up to the name being “Fun Day”, and we are so proud of our students for taking this initiative to organize it and spend a day together. ARIS Cares is an initiative, we are so proud of and we are so glad with the pride of it that our students carry forth.
