Phonics and Arabic Integration

May 16, 2018

With the PYP, Learning is always creative and out of the box. During the Arabic Integration Lesson, Year 1 had a Jolly Phonics lesson as they tried to match letters through pictures to form a complete word.

During their formative years, Jolly Phonics is one of the most vital lessons to learn because it involves multi-sensory approaches and methods to motivate children to exercise and go beyond on their literacy skills. Not only does it help in grammar, command over language, but also communication and thinking skills.

The children were given cards with different Arabic letters on each. Using some of the cards, the children would line them up to make different words and in turn have a grasp over the vocabulary of the language as well, and be able to communicate better in not just English, being the language of instruction, but others as well.

Soon, they’ll be pros!
