PYP Nursery Making Faces

May 3, 2018

Colors are a big part of expressing ourselves, no matter what age we are! PYP Nursery students, under the Unit of Inquiry of – “How We Express Ourselves” were engaged in activities in line with the Big Idea that is “Learning through Play”.

Learning through play, plays a pivotal role, in social, emotional and mental development in a child, especially in the formative years. They are able to make connections, be open-minded and express themselves freely as they communicate, play and learn from one another.

Zoom in to our Nursery Classroom last week, and you will see students exploring different techniques of drawing on faces. We think of pencils or play dough or paintbrushes, but these children used straws to blow into the paint on their paper. Paint was dropped onto a face on the paper, and as the children were engaged in the activity, the colors would flow around, wherever they willed it to. The beauty of it all is that each face will be unique and according to how the children would like to express themselves, whether it was through the paint colors used or which direction they blew the paint into.

Overall, they let their creativity flow as they expressed themselves. Keep going! Stay tuned for more news on the fun things that go on in the classrooms!
