We Love to Read

May 3, 2018

At ARIS, we love to read! As the PYP Reception Class learns under the Unit of Inquiry that is – “How We Express Ourselves”, their Central Idea is that “Stories can engage their audience and communicate meaning.”

In line with that, our little readers brought their favorite storybook either from their homes or the library to share with their entire class. The teacher took the class outside, onto a setting surrounded by nature as she read (and acted) their favorite stories out to them.

Students got a chance to reflect on the emotions and stories that their favorite storybooks evoke and the impact of telling and listening to stories, as they intently watched and sometimes helped in reading out their stories.

Some of the storybooks read were – “Pirate Adventure”, “Chicka Chicka Boom Boom”, “The Crocodile’s Knobbly Skin” and “The Lion and the Clever Little Jackal” to name a few. Both the students and the teacher thoroughly enjoyed as they learnt and emoted the characters, their expressions and were able to think into deeper meanings into the stories.
