ARIS is taking part in the #DecarbonizeDecolonize Project

Oct 18, 2018

#DecarbonizeDecolonize is an International Youth Project on Climate Change organized by the Centre for Global Education and Taking IT Global, which sets up virtual classrooms for students from around the world to connect with each other.

Currently, students from 21 different schools in 20 different countries are doing collaborative work on Climate Change activities and assignments, which ARIS has also now joined to be a part of.

This year’s focus is on the “Talanoa Dialogue” which is Inclusive, Participatory and Transparent.

ARIS students for their projects, have been reviewing a case-study about gold-mining in Ghana and its impact on Climate Change, as well as considering what they observe as contributions that Ghana makes to Climate Change, and its impact on Ghana.

This afternoon, our ARIS Students were a part of a Virtual Classroom, having a bi-lateral discussion with students from Latvia and Palestine as they shared their observations, perspectives and concerns.

Soon, there will also be tri-lateral discussions including students from other countries as well.

All of these dialogues that the students are a part of in the virtual classrooms is adding to the data being collected, gathered and shared by research students from each country via Google Docs. The result of this will be a United Youth Voice White Paper on Climate Change.
