Our Year 1 Students went on a Field Trip to Oyibi

Our Year 1 Students went on a Field Trip today! All three sections – Year 1 A, B and C went this morning to Oyibi where they would see different kinds of Houses, especially, the Mud Houses!

The current PYP Unit of Inquiry for Year 1 is Homes, with the Central Idea being Homes that reflect cultural influences and local conditions. Right now, the students are learning more about the different materials that are used like – mud, cement, bricks and so on, and the different kinds of houses, like – mud house, semi-detached, detached, apartment and so on!

The students explored around as they looked at Mud Houses and other kinds of Houses and analyzed the properties of them. All of the students upon seeing the Mud Houses said that they are not as strong as the houses that are made out of Bricks and cement. Mud Houses, because of the Rain and other factors can break down or become weaker.

Soon enough, they will also start learning about the different factors that contribute to the kinds of homes that we live in!

Stay tuned for more information!
