Run for a Cure Ghana

Oct 2, 2018

Over the weekend, our ARIS Students and some Staff took part in the 6th Annual 5k Run for a Cure Ghana! Run for a Cure is organized to raise Breast Cancer Awareness. With all the support for Run for a Cure, it donates equipment and materials to hospitals, hosts and finances breast cancer screenings, covers or subsidizes cost of breast cancer treatment and also promotes educational resources for breast cancer detection and treatment.

Every year, our students take part, and this year was no different! Our IBDP CAS and many other Students reported as early as 6:00 am at the Venue to run for a good cause! More than 20 ARIS Students ran as a Team at the Run for a Cure! It’s always humbling to be a part of such a big cause raising awareness towards Breast cancer and extending support to its survivors. Make a difference!

We will be there in the following years as well to extend our support as an ARIS Community towards raising awareness of Breast Cancer and supporting and honoring Breast Cancer survivors!

Dear Barb,

On behalf of all our survivors, partner hospitals and our volunteers, we wish to thank you and your enthusiastic team, for your continuous belief and support in our fight against breast cancer in Ghana.

Over 900 participants united this year in the now traditional 5k Run/Walk event with the theme #RISEUP. We are always humbled by this unmistakable reaffirmation and encouraged to redouble our efforts. The goal for the coming year is to continue with our yearlong awareness and education program, continue funding treatment for our survivors and purchase another Mammography system to be donated to a deserving hospital in the Central Region making a total of three (3) being donated by RFCA Ghana. The vision is to equip all the 10 regions of Ghana with a Mammography Systems, so it is easy for women to have their regular checks at no cost hence encouraging early detection of the disease, which is key to effective treatment.

With your support, we can continue making a significant difference and impact in Ghana.

God Bless you
