ARIS attends the Governance as Leadership (GaL) Professional Learning Institute

Sep 4, 2018

Last week, two of our Board Members and our Director, Dr. Fatma Odaymat attended the ‘Governance as Leadership (GaL) Professional Learning Institute’ sessions that are designated to build school teams with differing levels of experience. Moreover, these sessions introduce the newcomers to the triple helix of Governance – Fiduciary, Strategic and Generative governance.

This workshop, in partnership with the American International School of Johannesburg, will provide an opportunity for Heads of Schools, Board Members and Financial Board Teams to go in detail and explore the challenges that are faced in Leadership, Budgeting and Heads of Schools Evaluation.

The one that ARIS’s Board Vice Chair, Finance Controller and Director are attending is being led by Dr. Bill Ryan. A Harvard – Kennedy School of Government Graduate and Columbia University Graduate, Dr. Bill Ryan has changed the way that non-profit leaders approach governance. He has also co-authored “Governance as Leadership: Reframing the Work of Non-profit Boards”

There’s no doubt that it will be a fruitful experience! There is a lot that goes into running a school, in terms of Governance and Administration among other works. With ARIS celebrating its 15th Anniversary this year, let’s hope for many more!
