Hopscotch, a fun Numeracy Activity

This morning, we caught a glimpse into one of the activities in the Reception classroom!

Remember when we were children and we used to go wild over the game Hopscotch? I must admit, I am always up for Hopscotch! In one of the Reception Classrooms, Ms. Debbie and her team reinvented the game of Hopscotch into a fun Numeracy activity.

Along the classroom floor, the Reception facilitators pasted number stickers haphazardly, in a criss-cross manner. Then, she would call on her students to participate by calling out numbers at random, and the student would subsequently hop onto the number!

In the Early Years, this activity very effective on the integrating Numeracy into the curriculum; moreover, it gives them practice for fast thinking and also their Coordination skills!

It’s a win-win!
