SRC Celebrates the Life of Kofi Annan

Sep 19, 2018

Last week, we announced the 13th of September to be a Non-School Day in respect towards Kofi Annan’s State Funeral.

To celebrate his life, at the ARIS Secondary Campus, our newly appointed Student Representative Committee (SRC) organized a school Assembly bringing all the students together to learn more about Kofi Annan, his duty as the Secretary General of the United Nations and as a Human Rights Professional.

The SRC had arranged a competition between each class at Secondary school, from Year 7 to Year 13, to make posters on Kofi Annan. Each class got creative and researched more about him, and collaborated to make the best Kofi Annan poster that would be displayed in our school hallways; at the assembly, our Year 12 was announced to be the winner!

When we think of the UN, we think of Kofi Annan. Since we have an active Model United Nations (MUN) Club at Secondary School, our prominent MUN Members also got up on stage to demonstrate what a General Assembly at an MUN Conference looks like! This also piqued students’ interests and gave a glimpse into our MUN Club.

Kofi Annan was a great leader. SRC Members being our Student Leaders channeled a little bit of Kofi Annan as they organized and executed their first assembly of 2018/2019, swiftly!
