Student Led Initiatives

Sep 28, 2018

Today, 3 of our Secondary Students, as part of their Project, went over to Madina International School to donate School Bags and Stationary that they raised funds for!

After much planning over the past few weeks, our 3 students – Shikha, Souad and Ivy were involved in raising funds to buy good quality school bags and stationary to donate to the Year 7 or Form 1 Students at Madina International School.

In the efforts to raise funds, our Secondary School had a “Color-Coded Day” to raise awareness for specific causes under the Sustainable Development Goals and others like Autism and Cancer Awareness. Students across all classes were assigned a color to wear to signify each of these causes and would thus have to pay a small amount of money to come in non-uniform.

With all the money raised, our students bought enough school bags, stationary and any other reinforcements to get ready for the trip this morning.

Our students organized the donation as a surprise gift to all the students. They got them involved in ice-breaker, fun activities to ease the students into freely interacting with each other. Some groups played Volleyball and others played Hopscotch!

As the activities drew to a close, our students went about their specific projects, asking students questions about their education, their current state of stationary and school bags. The response that they need and would be ecstatic to receive a school bag and new stationaries was universal among all students.

New school bags and stationary always motivate us! According to the students’ study, they stated that it also is a step towards improving the quality of education.

Our students were able to surprise the students at Madina as they distributed bags and showed them what stationary it has. Lots of cheers and hugs! How big the hearts of the students at Madina that they also prepared pretty handmade trinkets with beads for our own students.

Both groups of students had so much fun that they could not wait for the next opportunity to come back!

Big hearts and big smiles! ARIS Cares!
