Welcome to the Chef’s Table! Would you like some Lemonade?

Our Nursery students in the morning today sat around the table getting involved in making Lemonade! Teaching and Learning at our Nursery, and our Early Years overall, is mostly through the Montessori Approach.

The Montessori Approach is a child-centered approach with hands-on and collaborative learning, also known as the ‘Sensory Approach to Learning.’ Our Nursery Facilitator, Ms. Christabel, also trained in Montessori Approach gets her students at Nursery involved in a multitude of activities that aid their overall growth and development.

Under the PYP Trans-disciplinary theme of “Who We Are”, the Nursery children are now on the Unit of Inquiry of “The Human Body”. The students are now learning about the 5 senses – Sight, Touch, Smell, Sound and Taste!

In the efforts of exploring different tastes, students are now on the taste of “Sour”, which explains the Lemonade activity perfectly! This sort of activity to learn about the sense of Taste retains itself longer, as our learning is directly connected to our senses from our Early Years. Furthermore, it works on children’s curiosity and research skills, as they inquire deeper about the human body and caring for the human body.

Stay tuned for more!
