Personalized Learning Department ASDAN Training

Apr 9, 2019

Our Secondary Special Educational Needs/Personalized Learning Coordinator (SENCO) has kept busy over the last few weeks. Mr. Henry Afful was at ASDAN Training in Newcastle.

In case you are not familiar with ASDAN; it is a British Education Charity that provides opportunities and support to all learners to develop their personal and social attributes and achievements, in order to advance their education and opportunities.

Now that Mr. Henry is trained, our Personalized Learning Department can apply ASDAN resources to some of our SEN (Special Educational Needs) and Gifted and Talented students. The details of which are yet to be announced.

Mr. Henry attended sessions on using PIVAS to assess and track the progress of SEN students. Also, sessions on using new technology in a sensory room and visual timetables, in order to deliver effective support for SEN children, especially for children with ASD or ADHD.

As we develop our Personalized Learning programme, the department is also looking to develop a sensory space/room to facilitate various programmes and strategies that they would like to run. Mr. Henry will also be carrying out training across the PL Departments in both campuses.
