PYP Chinese New Year 2019

Feb 1, 2019

31st January 2019 marked the Chinese New Year, or what is otherwise known as the Spring Festival, and ARIS celebrated it in style!

Our ARIS Community, and specially our Chinese community came together with vibrant colors in decorations, attires, cultural functions and even a variety of Chinese food. Our programme started off with the Lion and Dragon Dance (essential in Chinese Culture). To inaugurate the whole programme, Dr. Fatma and our guest, Director of the Confucius Institute in Ghana, cleaned the Lion’s eyes to symbolize prosperity!

We had the iconic Dragon dance that all of us enjoyed thoroughly. We also had a series of performances by our students across different grades, dances, Chinese songs, and instrumentals. Our Chinese parents also performed for the audience! A truly multicultural community embracing diversity.

Chinese New Year 2019 is the ‘Year of the Pig’ which signifies wealth and fortune. Here’s to more wealth, fortune and a brighter future for our ever growing ARIS Community!
