Rainbow Marking Continues to make a Difference

Apr 1, 2020

As we move into the virtual learning platform fulltime, from the day to day blended learning model we find the need for rainbow marking even more important.

At ARIS, we use Rainbow marking for PYP. It is the use of different highlighter-colors, or stickers to indicate a students strength point in writing, for instance, if Year 1 is working on capital letters and full stops, a coloured star or a designated coloured marker is used to highlight all the capital letters and another colour or coloured star is used for for the full stops.  The teacher then gives constructive feedback at the end of the written work. This is used for any form of assessment on writing skills. It could be used for instance on connectives, adverbs, or even sentence structure etc.
