After all the preparations and registration, The Youth Online Ghana Chess Tournament took place today, 13th June 2020. This tournament was an initiative by two of our IBDP 1 Year 12 Eagles, Abrahim Toutoungi and Shivjyot Singh.
Chess is a passion that these two share, and they decided that as part of their chess goals, they would organize a chess tournament for other chess talents in the country, like themselves.
The initiative was well received and quite a number of young chess talents registered to take part in the competition, which was divided into two categories, U-18 and U-14. The tournament was organized on Lichess.org, and the top 3 winners of each category were given a certificate.
The competition started at 10:00 am and after hours of competing, Abrahim, Shiv, and Krish came out at the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd positions respectively for the U-18 category!
We are proud that our Risk-takers fulfilled one of their chess goals, and we encourage that they continue to always be inspired and empowered to transform for a better world!
