On Sunday, 15th March 2020, The President of the Republic announced that all schools will be closed for a few weeks due to the increased confirmed cases of the novel COVID-19 infection. For the ARIS Team, schools closing does not mean teaching and learning must stop!
The recent confirmed cases of the Coronavirus have led us as a school to close for two weeks; 16th March to 20th March, followed by our mid semester break, 23rd March 2020 to 27th March 2020. These measures have been put in place to maintain student and staff health and safety. There are no confirmed cases from our community, however, we must be on guard.
As usual, ARIS is forever prepared for any situation and in this case, we have moved to online virtual learning for this week, thus activating our emergency virtual school learning plan for teaching and learning to run smoothly. In addition to this, our school counseling and support team are on board and ready for online counseling and wellbeing sessions.
Currently, we are on our 3rd day of virtual learning and en route to writing a successful online learning story. Our community which includes students, staff and parents are all on board and collaborating beautifully. Using learning management systems such as google classrooms, seesaw, zoom and managebac, our students are given daily tasks to complete by facilitators with the help of parents if need be. The sessions are very interactive and we have received a lot of positive feedback from students, staff and parents.
The online virtual learning involves all our students from as little as EYP Playgroup to as old as IBDP 2 Year 13 students!
At the end of a day’s work, our secondary facilitators have a collaborative meeting with Head of Secondary, Madam Alpana via zoom, and in these meetings, the successes, challenges and ways to make the virtual learning journey worthwhile are discussed!
For us, the teaching and learning must go on and we will continue to Inspire, Empower and Transform for a better world, one e-lesson at a time! #ARISVirtual
