Essential Agreements with PYP Year 5

Essential Agreements are important because they are shared expectations of how students should behave in class. These agreements are drawn by the students themselves!

Today, PYP Year 5 Eagles set their essential agreements together, with the help of their facilitators and some of these agreements were: Always keep your desk clean, do not shout in class, always raise your hands before you talk, amongst many others.

For the activity, the eagles sat in collaborative groups and agreed amongst each other on what they thought should be rules in the classrooms. They each wrote down their agreements on strips of paper and read them out to each other.

At the end of this activity, all the strips were brought together PYP 5 were done setting their Essential Agreements! An absolutely great way to start this year!
