PYP Dance Mania 2021 - Meet the Judges

Meet the Judges who will be judging today for Dancemania 2021

Stephany Ursula Yamoah - Stephany is a choreographer, performer, teacher and dance activist whose creations explore the complexities of dance in connection to the everyday lived experience. She has a number of works mostly based on historical narratives, African folktales and social issues. She studied dance under Nii Kwei Sowah (University of Ghana), Salia ni Seydou (Burkina Faso), Auguste Bienvenue (Burkina Faso), Prof. F. Nii Yartey (Noyam-Ghana), C.K. Ladzepko of Berkeley University CA, US and has worked with a number of institutions both locally and internationally. She was awarded best choreography for 2010, in the "Save the Last Dance for Jesus" national competition and a Scholarship Award for American Dance Festival (ADF) Duke University, by American Embassy (Ghana) in 2010. She is currently the Acting Director of the National Dance Company.

Eugene Boateng- He was born in Dusseldorf, where he grew up with seven siblings in a multicultural, socially mixed town. His environment inspired him in his first dance attempts, which soon reached a professional level. With his dance, he celebrated great successes and was part of various music video productions. Eugene made his first acting experiences through collaboration with lecturers at the Ernst Busch Acting School as well as the UdK Berlin. Since then he has been part of many cinema and television productions, such as the feature film BORGA, the TV movie Annie-Kopfuber ins leben, or the Netflix series Tribes of Europa.

 

Mustapha Braimah - Mustapha brings over two decades of international experience and high artistic acclaim to his roles as an artist-scholar from Ghana. He is a choreographer, educator, curator, maker, performer, musician and administrator. He holds an M.F.A in Dance from the University of Maryland, M.A in African Studies, Ohio University, and B.F.A in Dance, University of Ghana. He is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor and Director of the Dance Program at UNC Asheville in the United States. His art practice and creativity are deeply rooted in contemporary, popular and traditional dance forms. His works utilize diverse virtuosic approaches in applying 21st - century skills and creativity including improvisation.
