Dr Funke attended The International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (ICMEC) policy and training development review meeting in Instanbul.
ICMEC is a global non-profit organization that works to prevent child abduction, sexual exploitation, and other violence against children. ICMEC supports schools worldwide by providing resources, training, and technical assistance to help schools improve their child protection policies and practices. This includes guidance on identifying and responding to potential child exploitation and abuse cases and how to prevent these issues from occurring in the first place. As a regional trainer for the African continent, Dr Funke works with schools to develop and implement child-friendly policies and procedures, such as codes of conduct and reporting mechanisms, to ensure that children are safe and protected in education.
