About two years ago, ARIS had fully embraced the purpose and concept of a career-related education, seeing it as an opportunity to fully fulfill one of our Core Values, greatness in everyone. In preparation, a Career-focused Education Event was launched in 2020 to introduce parents, staff and the general public to what the future can be, with an education that focuses on equipping students with the skills necessary to be successful in the career of their choice.
Shortly after that, ARIS became the first school in Sub-Saharan Africa to be authorized by the IB to run the IB Career-related Programme.
It's been two years, and the IBCP at ARIS has flourished beyond our imagination.
Today's event focused on enlightening parents and the general public on what the IBCP actually was, the prospects for students that take the programme and the pathways available to them. It was also the perfect avenue to introduce the first-ever ARIS IBCP Cohort which will be graduating this year.
Invited guests and speakers included special guest speaker, Constance Swaniker, CEO of Design and Technology Institute of Africa, Gabriel Sowah from Pearson BTEC, Jalissa from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Rosalyn Kyere-Nartey from the Swiss Education Group Ghana, and Mr. Rami Halimi, an ARIS IBCP parent.
These guests talked about the importance of a career-based education and the opportunities available with their various organizations. They shared their experiences, personal and general, with the acquisition of top class skills that made not only them but people that went through this type of education, successful, especially in the 21st Century. Mr. Rami Halimi shared his experience as a parent of one of our first IBCP students, his doubts at the beginning, gradually changed to utter trust as he saw his son improve!
Of course, it would not be an IBCP event without the IBCP students and facilitators also sharing their thoughts and experiences, giving them an up close and personal look at studying, university application, assessments, etc.
It was a very interactive session with polls, question and answers panels, and interaction with the various groups that were represented.
The Open House was a great success, and we hope it was a good place to start, for all questions and research on the IBCP at ARIS.
ARIS is a full-continuum IB School that offers quality education to students in the Primary Years, Middle Years, IB Diploma and IB Career-related Programmes, aiming to inspire, empower and transform for a better world!
