PYP "I am Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah"

"At long last, the battle has ended! And thus Ghana, your beloved country, is free forever! Our independence is meaningless unless it is linked up with the total liberation of the African continent."

This famous speech made at midnight of 6th March 1957 by, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, marked the beginning of Ghana, an independent country, who had strived and fought for their independence from the British Colonial government.

To commemorate the Independence Day of Ghana, PYP Eagles held a special event to celebrate the man behind this day, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

They held an event of music, dance, and acting in remembrance of all the sacrifices our forefathers made in the fight for Ghana's independence. A mini competition dubbed "I am Osagyefor Dr. Kwame Nkrumah", was held, where students of the upper primary classes from Year 5 to 6 took turns to reenact the famous speech by Dr. Nkrumah, on the dawn of Ghana's independence.

With passion and collaboration each team showed up and did their best to reenact the speech.

We celebrate 65 years of Independence, and as sons and daughters of the motherland, we are constantly inspired and empowered by this powerful speech made by Dr. Nkrumah to always strive for positive transformation.

Happy Independence Day Ghana!
