ARIS Uniform Design Challenge

The ARIS PSA and Management formed a task force last year to review and redesign a new uniform for the ARIS students. Last year the committee agreed to design and prototype the uniform this academic year to ensure that it is ready for ARIS 20th Anniversary, which will be celebrated in the academic year 2023-2024.

The committee agreed to follow a Design thinking process as it is instrumental in tackling ill-defined problems by re-framing the problem in human-centric ways, creating many ideas in brainstorming sessions, and adopting a hands-on approach in prototyping and testing. Design thinking also allows us to focus on the user experience (our students) to ensure that we meet their needs.

Since the last academic year, the school has gathered data through immersive experiences, focus group discussions and surveys. We have also been working with the Design and Tech department on a Design Challenge Brief that will guide the design teams.

Opinions matter significantly when making decisions, especially in a diverse community like ours. During the ARIS Design Challenge, a few suggestions were made on making your uniforms feel more distinctive and comfortable and accommodating the many different cultures and religious backgrounds. It also included suggestions on adjusting the colour and texture of the fabric, the fit of uniforms, a bold eagle logo on the back of Lacoste and T-shirts, and storage possibilities and detachable accessories.
