MYP 5 Year 11 Chemistry: Need to know the PH of your Seawater?

Experiments are a fun way to learn about your environment. This experiment introduces students to measuring acidic, basic and neutral solutions using litmus paper, methyl orange, and phenolphthalein solution.  The students were given samples of seawater, bleach, hydrochloric acid, ethanoic acid, ammonia and sodium hydroxide solutions to measure the PH with indicators such as litmus paper, methyl orange, and phenolphthalein to determine whether the solution was strongly acidic, weakly acidic, neutral, weakly alkaline or strongly alkaline.
