MYP 4 Summative

At ARIS, we believe in empowering students to explore the fascinating world of science through hands-on experiments. In a recent summative, our Year 10 Students designed their own experiment to determine the energy released from burning different liquid fuels. By investigating the energy output per gram of Methanol, Ethanol, Propan-1-ol, Butan-1-ol, and Pentan-1-ol, they sought to unveil which fuels release the most energy when ignited.

The Students documented their experimental observations, ensuring accuracy in their data collection. They recorded the energy released from burning 1 gram of each fuel. To enhance the reliability of their findings, they repeated the experiments multiple times and calculated average values for comparison.
By empowering our students to design and conduct their own experiments, we instil in them a passion for discovery and equip them with essential skills for a future driven by scientific innovation. At ARIS, we are proud to foster an environment where young minds can flourish, explore, and make remarkable contributions to this changing world.
